Time for change...

When I started Tiny Oyster Designs it was early 2008. I was studying Marine Conservation and I was living in halls. I wasn't in the best place emotionally due to long term family issues and was very alone. Making plush became my emotional and creative outlet.
I look back on that now and feel like I'm looking back at a stranger. I have a house, a 'home-made' family, a career path that I truly want to follow and I get to do what I love every day by creating plush creatures that make a little bit of a difference to some of you. I have also finally discovered and embraced my own style and way of working.
It is nearly 4 years since that darker, lower time in my life and I have changed so very much, that I feel it is time to have a bit of a make over (like me with my super long curly hair now, instead of the pixie crop I had back then) and grow into the designer and person I will continue to be now that I am grounded.

Tiny Oyster Designs is not going entirely, the links will all still be there, but once the Tiny Oyster Shop is empty, I will be selling from a new shop. I would really love it if you would all follow me over to my new page and shop etc as I could never have come this far without your support. So I will post the link to the new fb page and etsy shop here. I will be having a 25% xmas sale at Tiny Oyster shop leading up to xmas so get the things you have had your eye on while they are there. Worry and Poorly have moved to the new shop, but are very much available still. Thank you and I really do cherish each and every one of you who has supported me this far, I hope you will continue to do so <3 <3 <3

Package from Twistyfishies...

This arrived for me today, beautifully packaged as always and just too cute for words, so I thought I'd share a picture instead.

This was a personal package, but you can purchase your own amigurumi plush from her Etsy shop if you click here : CLICK ME!!!

But you can't have these, these are all mine and will be overly loved. Once I get my dollshouse painted and done, these will be the first residents to live on Cherry Tree Lane (in my imagination of course) ;)

STICKERS! Vegetables...

I have wanted to make stickers for some time, but these popped into my head the other day and I had to get them on paper. So here are my first offical stickers.

There's nothing like lovely home grown vegetables and now you can have your five a day without having to dig, pull or cook anything.

These stickers are hand drawn by me and digitally coloured. The back peels off and then you are ready to stick these anywhere and everywhere. Liven up school books, computors etc or use them as markers for your actual vegtable pots.

These stickers range in size from 3" to 1.5". A nice big size!
Bagged in my usual way with another of my originally illustrated toppers for safe traveling.

Simple Autumn Beauty...

Look at the size of this beautiful autumn leaf I found today on my way home from the gym. It is huge and really lovely, so I bought it back with me and just as I was about to take a photo to share with you, Worry jumped on top of it. I think he was expecting it to rustle like the leaves we jump in with our wellies on, but he didn't get the effect he was going for, so instead he decided to pose for the photo.

I love the red, yellow and brown leaves of this time of year and think every now and again we need to all stop and take in the beauty around us. Enjoy the simple things that Mother Nature provides us with.

Tiny Oyster meets Quernus Crafts in a beautiful trade...

I recently took part in a trade of mediums with the lovely Kirsten from Quernus Crafts.

I made her one of my Worry aromatherapy plush creatures and in return she immortalised Worry by transforming it into a sculpture.
The little guy arrived this morning, but I haven't been able to take any photos due to this utterly glum weather we are having, so I used the ones Kirsten kindly took for me before she sent it.

As you can see it is super smooth and very cute. The packaging was beautiful too, all wrapped up in silver paper and in it's own little box. If you haven't seen Kirstens' work before then head on over to her website and have a look. You'll be pleased you did.

Prototype Christmas Tree Decoration - Paper and Plush...

I decided to try and merge paper art and plush into some new Christmas Tree Decorations. So I made some sewn plush Christmas Trees (in ym own simple style) and combined this with hand drawn and coloured paper illustration.

The tree is made from glitter fabric and has one of my original trademark tags on it, fitting in with a vintage style.

The birds are my own original illustrations drawn onto thick watercolour paper and hand coloured. They have a varnished coating to protect them. They are glued onto the tree with super strong adhesive.

This is just a prototype to test out my idea. Following on from my Festive Creature, I have used similar Christmas spices to fill this tree and it smells delicious. It is making me feel so Christmassy smelling it. The tree measure just over 4 inches tall.

I would love to know what you think of these as if I get good feedback I will be adding these to my shop in this style, the same but opposite colours and even some one of a kind fabric ones.
